“UD Active Steering”, a revolutionary technology that vastly improves steering precision and driver comfort, and “ESCOT-Ⅵ” – the latest evolution in 12-speed automated manual transmissions, plus disc brakes and an interior designed for driver comfort, deliver a sophisticated driving experience that reduces driver stress and fatigue.

Drivability

UD Active Steering

UD Active Steering features an electric motor mounted above the hydraulic steering gear to provide additional torque when necessary. The electronic control unit (ECU) mounted on the electric motor receives input 2,000 times per second from sensors throughout the truck, monitoring the driving environment and the driver’s own actions. This system control adds appropriate torque to the weight of the steering wheel, providing precise and stable steering irrespective of speed, cargo, and road conditions. The ease and precision of steering helps reduce driver fatigue and make roads safer.  

*UD Active Steering is available as an option for CG rear axle air suspension WB 7,520mm vehicles and GK WB 3,200mm vehicles.

Unparalleled operability: “ESCOT-Ⅵ”

“ESCOT-Ⅵ” provides highly-evolved hardware and software control to ensure professional driving performance. With its advanced and accurate gear changes and smooth fuel efficiency, ESCOT-Ⅵ eases operability, reduces levels of stress and fatigue while driving, and contributes to driver safety. Performance is further improved on snowy roads and in muddy areas.

The ESCOT-Ⅵ gear lever uses a straight shifting pattern, an evolution in its simple and easy-to-use design.

4-spoke steering wheel

The shape of the steering wheel has been ergonomically redesigned for a more comfortable grip that reduces driver fatigue. Switches are conveniently positioned for easy access to functions and information, and the driver’s line of sight and operation line are on the same plane for efficient, safe, and reliable operability.

Instrument panel affords excellent visibility

The newly designed instrument panel is loaded with driving information and LED indicators arranged in an easy-to-understand way. Information is displayed in zones arranged according to warning priority, with essential information at the top. A large, 5-inch color LCD multi-display monitor with outside temperature display occupies the center of the instrument panel, with fonts and layout designed for easy visibility.

Dashboard designed for driver comfort

We have designed a sleek black and silver dashboard that skillfully combines straight lines and curves, to enhance driver operability and visibility, and to provide optimal arrangement of the multi-display monitor, switches, equipment, and instruments. Switches are set to light up when in use and to light up at night time, so that all switches can be easily understood at a quick glance.

Disc brakes for reliable and powerful braking

Disc brakes are available on all models for quick and smooth pedal response, and reliable braking even on long descents with a full load. By combining a variety of advanced systems, such as brake blending and an Emergency Braking System (EBS), we have achieved braking comfort that reduces driver fatigue, and is also easy on cargo. 

Belt-In Seat

By incorporating the seat belt into the seat body and following the movement of the seat suspension, the BIS (Belt-in seat) reduces oppression during driving. Equipped with a variety of adjustment mechanisms that finely respond to your physique and taste. The high-performance seats provide a comfortable ride even over long distances, reducing driving fatigue and contributing to safety.

Advanced fuel-efficient driveline

The improved driveline achieves high level of fuel efficiency that enhances transport efficiency.
Both fuel-efficient, powerful and clean ”GH11 engine” and ”GH8 engine” with light-weight and compact while powerful torque comply with Japanese 2016 exhaust gas regulations.

Efficient, clean and powerful GH11 engine

The GH11 engine’s new fuel injection system uses the unique properties of both unit injector and common rail system.

  2. Light-weight, high performance Variable Geometry Turbo Charger (VGT) with excellent response, for responding to detailed accelerator work

Light-weight, compact and powerful “GH8 engine”

With downsized engine achieving light-weight and compact, and simpler structure maintaining high reliability, it generates powerful torque in the whole area. It both achieves light-weight as well as high payload and powerful drives. It complies with Japanese 2016 exhaust gas regulations and all high payload models achieve +5% over the fuel efficiency standards.

Safety functions for risk prediction

Truly safe driving on a daily basis requires the vehicle to predict potential dangers and immediately notify the driver. Quon features safety systems based on advanced technology including Traffic Eye braking and Driver Alert.The goal of “safety that puts people first” mandates safe conditions for drivers as well as those in the surrounding environment. Safety is built into all basic features, with heat-dissipating, fade-resistant disc brakes available on all models.

Active safety – Traffic Eye Brake

Dual monitoring with millimeter-wave radar and camera dramatically improves detection of the vehicle ahead. The AEBS01 series represents our early compliance with requirements for strengthened braking to reduce collision damage, ahead of scheduled implementation in November 2019.
1. Uses both millimeter-wave radar and camera to monitor conditions in front of the truck.
2. While driving, if the possibility of collision with the vehicle ahead is detected, the driver is quickly notified with a warning indicator and an alarm.
3. If the vehicle reaches a distance where collision is possible, the brakes are applied quickly to reduce any damage due to collision.
* The Traffic Eye Brake System provides assistance for safe driving. However, it does not guarantee that all collisions will be avoided. It might not be possible to use this system in some road, vehicle, and weather conditions. Please take care to drive safely without relying on this system.

Active safety – Lane departure warning system

The cab camera detects the traffic lanes to the left and right. If the driver unintentionally leaves the lane at speeds of 60 km/h or more, an alarm sounds and an indicator flashes. This function is not triggered by the brakes or turn indicators.
* This function is not triggered if the brakes and direction indicators are being used.

Long-lasting LED low-beam lamps provide bright, clear light to improve night visibility for safe driving.

An extended grip and two-step entry/exit provide additional driver safety. Cab floor height has also been lowered to improve forward visibility.

Basic safety – Disc brakes

Disc brakes with high heat dissipation and superior fade resistance provide reliable braking performance even on long descents while hauling cargo. In addition, because they are less susceptible to water penetration, they provide stable braking performance even in adverse conditions. They respond quickly and smoothly to the operation of the brake pedal and reduce the impact of braking, to prevent damage to your valuable cargo.

Passive safety – SAFES CABIN

The SAFES CABIN consists of a highly rigid cab loaded with safety features. Collision impact is redirected to the rear, and side-door beams improve safety by enhancing interior strength.

Injury-reducing features include seat belts with pre-tensioners, SRS airbags, and impact-absorbing steering wheel and column. Under-run protection (front and rear) reduce damage to other vehicles and their drivers.

Productivity

Chassis designed with cargo hauling in mind

The key to transport efficiency is superior loading performance. To improve loading performance, Quon uses high-tensile-steel plates for the main frame to reduce vehicle weight. Our chassis designs also emphasizes body-mounting efficiency to achieve the “Perfect Quon”.

Our chassis designs also emphasize body-mounting efficiency to provide a greater range of options. Perfect Quon is also available with a tipper and a mixer of various body specifications, and has an expanded line-up.

Increased height-adjustment range from new air suspension

Increased adjustment range for 6×2 and 6×4 models optimizes height adjustment for the loading environment. Generous adjustment of +115 mm up from neutral further increases cargo-handling ease.

The uneven load-adjustment function automatically adjusts any lateral differences of the height of the trucks through the air suspension, improving cargo handling when loading from the side with a forklift. It prevents cargo from sliding down and protects the customers’ valuable cargo.

Two types of body, standard and high payload are available for Perfect Quon dry wings. The high payload model, with a lighter chassis, has its payload increased by approximately 500-700 kg.

Tipper: A payload of 10 tons for the standard model

A payload of 10 tons is now possible with the standard model. For the high payload model, a telescopic cylinder type rear-dump is now available.

The payload for the standard model is more than 9.8 tons.

Moreover, for the high payload model, a payload of over 10 tons is ensured. A simple structure of a telescopic cylinder type rear-dump can be chosen.

For the mixer truck, two types of mixer drum can be chosen. The standard type drum capacity is 4.4 ㎥, the highest capacity in the class of 4.5 ㎥ is also available.

Superb chassis enhances reliability and durability

The Quon uses steel plates treated with cationic coating for rust prevention, as well as a salt water-resistant coating. Resin parts in the cab and parts of the chassis, such as a resin AdBlue® tank, provide an extended service life.

Quality testing in extreme conditions

We consistently conduct a variety of tests under extreme conditions in cold regions. For example, to verify the new Quon’s stability on frozen roads, we repeatedly tested the disc brakes and UDSC (stability control), as well as “one-shot starting.” We also tested Quon’s “escapability” on snow-packed roads and muddy areas.

* The starting assistance function for snowy roads and muddy areas is equipped as standard only for “ESCOT-Ⅵ”.

Easy maintenance and long replacement intervals

2. Cab for easy daily maintenance
All of the equipment that is required when performing daily inspections is located on the front lid, for improved efficiency during inspections. The cab tilts to 65 degrees for a large work space.
* The front lid should be opened before tilting the cab.

3. Periodic replacement parts and long replacement intervals
Quon’s disc brakes do not require expanders, reducing the number of parts that need to be regularly replaced. High-quality synthetic oils that are highly heat-resistant and do not easily degrade extend replacement intervals and uptime.

4. Long-lasting LED headlamps
Long-lasting and power-saving LED lamps, which degrade little from being switched on and off, provide clear and bright light for a long time, lowering running costs.
